The following information was included in the October 24th edition of "The Weekly Wildcat" from our Principal, Mr. Galligan, relating to Halloween:
-- Halloween, Valentine’s Day, and so many other holidays have become kid-focused, family centered, and celebratory fun days to enjoy throughout the year. We also respect that some families’ religious or personal views do not adopt these customs.
-- Like previous years, rather than canceling recognitions in our diverse community, we are offering kid-friendly Halloween lessons and activities – along with Fall/Harvest-centered lessons and alternatives – on Thursday, October 31st in the final hours of the school day to ensure that everyone can enjoy a fun afternoon without being singled out. However, If you would prefer that your child not partake in any Halloween lessons or activities, please let the office know via email before the end of the day on Tuesday, October 29th so we can be ready.
-- Please note that while costume wearing in school is not banned, we tend to discourage the kids from wearing costumes mostly so they can safely participate in recess and physical education classes. Kindergarten will be changing into their costumes after lunch and recess for the traditional K Halloween parade. The faculty and staff may be donning fun, but safe, “school-themed” clothing/shirt surprises for the kids, too. Lastly, students may decide to participate in an optional ‘harvest colors’ dress down day if they are interested and to make things safer - and easier on families.
