SEL

Warwick Neck Elementary is very proud to have a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Committee of faculty and staff members who meet regularly to ensure engaging, age-appropriate, and meaningful SEL initiatives are underway all throughout the year.

What is SEL and what are the benefits of having it in a school? The Leadership Program, an educational consulting firm based out of New York, has provided a great overview of what SEL entails - given the wide misunderstandings and inaccurate theories that currently exist and can quickly spread on and off social media. You can learn more here - or, keep reading to learn what Warwick Neck is doing this year.

What is Warwick Neck doing to promote a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for all students right now? Check out our SEL newsletter filled with great information about ongoing and upcoming events and initiatives.

One initiative the kids loved last year, that is making a return this year, is classroom skits that are performed for the whole school. The skits entail students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 acting out "expected behaviors" such as appropriate behavior in the lunchroom, at recess, ensuring school work is completed, and proper care of school supplies (such as chrome books) - just to name a few!
