Student Leaders

Students in Grades 4 and 5 are invited to grow as leaders in their school and our local community through several special roles offered at Warwick Neck Elementary School!

Students may serve on one, two, or all three initiatives. As always, good academic effort and positive behavior are expected for participation since these students would be considered role models for others at Warwick Neck School.

Student Council: Students in Grades 4 & 5 can decide to serve as school representatives (representing students in designated classrooms from K to Grade 5) on the Student Council! Additionally, 5th graders can decide to run for President and Vice President of the student body!

Join Mr. Galligan during the final 15 minutes of the school day every-other-Friday to share ideas, help plan events, and make the school experience better for you and all students! In previous years, the Student Council was instrumental in planning special surprises, lunchroom treats, and fun physical fitness events for Warwick Neck kids, based on what all of the classes were telling them. View the 4th grade application for participation or 5th grade application for participation. (Applications due: Fri., Sept. 6th). [Hard-copies were provided to all students and extras are available in the school office.]

Junior Coaches: New for 2024-2025: Along with Student Council kids in Grades 4 & 5 can look forward to piloting a new program, known as “Junior Coaches”, brought by Mr. Galligan to Warwick Neck.  Junior Coaches is a program within Recess Rocks, a comprehensive movement program to enhance learning for elementary school children and promote active play.

“Junior Coaches” is an initiative that fosters the planning and execution of optional, organized games of four-square, kickball, and other competitions at recess for younger children with the assistance and oversight of older peers. See the application for participation here. (Applications due: Fri., Sept. 6th). [Hard-copies were provided to all students and extras are available in the school office.]

Safety Patrol: Back by student request and after a hiatus due to COVID for several years,  kids in 5th grade may serve on the school’s Safety Patrol by helping younger friends get to their class line in the mornings and by supporting safety initiatives around our building and on the buses! All Safety Patrol participants receive a neon-colored shoulder belt, badge, and official membership card - courtesy of AAA New England. Download an application here. (Applications due: Fri., Sept. 6th) [Hard-copies were provided to all students and extras are available in the school office.]
