Testing

Families of students in Grades 3-5 are asked to view the attached letter from the district relating to RICAS testing, which starts Wednesday, March 29th in English Language Arts (ELA) at Warwick Neck School. (The mathematics portion will run April 26-28, 2023). The ELA portion will conclude on Thursday, March 30th with make-ups on Friday, March 31st.

Additionally, the kids have been asking for us to continue with the longstanding tradition at Warwick Neck of providing Lifesaver mints during the tests. To keep our students happy, we have purchased mints to hand out while testing is underway. If you do not want your child to have a mint, please reach out to their teacher via email as they are the ones in the classroom providing them as needed during testing.

Why mints during a test?

The sense of smell is known to help with memory recall. Peppermint is especially helpful as a natural remedy for boosting memory and concentration. The kinesthetic action of sucking on mints has also been known to have a relaxing effect and increase focus.

We wish all of our students in Grades 3-5 much success on their RICAS tests! Thanks to all of our families for their support of this important assessment week.
