You may walk your child to the door, but we ask that you stay outside of the building. Good Evening Wyman Parents/Guardians, I'd like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding over the past few days this week. There is no school on Monday October 23rd as staff will have a professional development day. However, all students will be back in person at Wyman Elementary School on Tuesday October 24th! Again, thank you to everyone for their understanding, patience, and resilience over the past few days. October 18, 2023 Dear Parents/Guardians of Wyman Wolves, We wanted to reach out to you in regards to the closing of Wyman School today. This was due to a boiler that failed early this morning. Upon arrival, our custodian found a strong odor, thinking it was the new asphalt being worked on in the neighborhood. After reaching out to our maintenance department, it was discovered that this was more significant than just an odor. The fire department was called as a precautionary measure, and that is when it was decided out of an abundance of caution to cancel school at Wyman for today, Wednesday, October 18, 2023. Our current update is as follows: all day long our maintenance department, along with a team of experts from a highly qualified cleaning vendor, have been cleaning the school as there was soot from the boiler on some surfaces. In addition, we have placed many air scrubbers throughout the building to filter the air. The next step is to have the air quality assessed to check for levels of airborne carbon before we bring staff and students back into the building. Unfortunately this takes time because after the air quality testing has been completed, it has to be sent out to a lab. When results show that the air quality is safe, then students and staff can come back into the building. While we know that distance learning is not a long term solution, we do not want our students to miss out on valuable instruction. All of our teachers have set up a Google classroom and have shown the students how to access meets and assignments. Therefore, it has been decided that Wyman School students will participate in Distance Learning for Thursday, October 19th and Friday, October 20th while we wait for the air testing results. We are anticipating the air quality results on Friday afternoon. We will again message you when we get the results back. Our amazing Wyman teachers will be sending out an email to families. This will include a schedule which will include meet times and when attendance will be taken. If your student is in need of a chromebook, we will have them available for you to pick up at Wyman School on Thursday, October 19th between the hours of 7:30-9:30 am. Please bring this borrowed chromebook back to school with you on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Again, we thank you for your support as we navigate this difficult situation. Good Evening Wyman Parents, My name is Ryan Rafanelli and I am the new Principal at Wyman Elementary School. I am reaching out to notify you that I will be hosting an informal Principal meet and greet for all Wyman families this Thursday 8/31 from 5-5:30 pm for parents and scholars in grades 1-2 and 5:45-6:15 pm for parents and scholars in grades 3-5. This principal meet and greet will take place on the Wyman blacktop near the playground. Also, as a reminder for parents with kindergartener scholars, we will be having a kindergarten orientation this Thursday 8/31 from 2-3 pm. Dear Families, Aspen rosters are tentative. We have many shifts going on behind the scenes and no class list or class assignment is set in stone. We understand that waiting can be difficult, and students are looking forward to who their new teachers will be in just a few weeks, but again, ask you to please be patient as we finish what we need to do on the back end of things at our schools.
