is resilient and embraces diversity with empathy and respect for others
makes responsible decisions, and
effectively engages with the world.
Vision of a Gradute
The Vision of a Graduate was developed over several sessions in guidance from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). "NEASC ask each district to develop a Vision of a Graduate along with a defined set of core values and beliefs about learning." NEASC.org
The vision of a graduate allows for a more holistic view of our students and delineates the necessary skills, knowledge and dispositions for students to become college and career ready. As we unpack each of the skills, we gain clarity about the learning environment and the methods and practice of teaching needed for our students to be successful beyond high school.
Opportunities to Integrate and Practice SEL and Academic Instruction
Social emotional learning is fundamental for achieving academic goals. Providing opportunities to teach and practice through rich academic instructional practices, allows the educator to integrate for the most effective tier 1 approach. When students are provided with these daily experiences, the need to teach a skill more explicitedly becomes more clear.
The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL), states that there are three important areas of focus. Click on each link below for more information about each of these components.
